Branching Out – Paget

Paget BranchIn the last issue of Auslec Solutions, we introduced readers to the then newest branch to join the Australia wide Auslec stable – Biloela in central Queensland.

Well, that was last issue! Fast forward just a few short months and ‘the newest Auslec’ mantle has now been bestowed upon another Queensland branch – Paget.

“I’m sure most readers would have absolutely no idea where Paget is”, says Branch Manager Trevor Lahy. “However, mention Mackay and everyone suddenly gets their bearings!”

Paget is essentially the industrial hub suburb of an ever-growing Mackay and is home to many of the region’s mining and industrial businesses. “Paget was chosen for that exact reason in that it put us right amongst our customer base and immediately made us part of the industrial community that we supply to”, explained Trevor. “It make sense for us to be right in the middle of things”.

Thanks to a combination of a buoyant resource sector, population growth and strong industry, the Paget team have a multitude of mining, construction and industrial customers to look after. “Up here we’ve seen steady population growth over the last few years and that is excepted to continue for a few more years yet”, says Trevor. “As a result, we have strong civil construction activity with roads, infrastructure and mine support projects all underway. Add to that the commercial and residential development that is taking place and it’s no wonder we’re one of the fastest growing regions in Queensland”.

Opening its doors in May this year, the Paget branch is a brand new, state of the art showroom and warehouse covering some 1250m2 and is staffed by seven committed industrial supply experts with a combined 40 years experience. “We’ve put together a great team of local people with a real understanding of what our customers need”, says Trevor. “We service a significant geographic area and within that area, there’s a wide variety of industries and customer requirements so we have to be across just about everything”.

The service area that Trevor talks about is vast by anyone’s measure. Taking in the Mackay region, the Bowen Basin and the entire Whitsundays, the Paget team’s ‘backyard’ is probably bigger than some European nations! “We have to work around the distance issues sometimes and one way we do that is by extensively using our training room facilities”, explains Trevor. “We can be a central point for customer and supplier training which is particularly useful for companies with remote operations or limited facilities”.

So from all accounts, it looks like the newest addition to the growing Auslec footprint is already kicking goals and making a name for themselves. “We certainly had to hit the ground running and the whole team is excited about what we’re doing”, concludes Trevor. “We just don’t want to be known as the newest Auslec branch in Australia, we want to known as the absolute best”.
